FOLDS OF HONOR: A RECIPIENT OF A PORTION OF MERCHANDISE PROCEEDS

Lieutenant Colonel Dan Rooney embodies our movement, LIFE IS DANGEROUS. LIVE IT ANYWAY. During his flight home from his second tour of duty in Iraq as an F-16 fighter pilot, he experienced the painful reality of the sacrifices that take place when serving our great country. On his flight that night, were the remains of Corporal Brock Bucklin. Lt. Colonel Rooney watched as Corporal Bucklin’s twin brother sadly escorted his brother’s flag-covered casket on the tarmac alongside Corporal’s young son, Jacob.
That somber experience witnessing the pain of what happens to the families of fallen heroes brought life to Folds of Honor, an organization providing scholarships to spouses and children of American’s fallen and disabled service members of which Jacob Bucklin became the first recipient in 2007.
“It’s always a remarkable experience when we award a Folds of Honor Scholarship to the recipient,” shared Lt. Col. Rooney, “But when they walk across the stage with diploma in hand ready to take on the world and build a life that honors their service member, that’s when the fruits of our mission are most evident and rewarding.”
“Part of the purpose behind creating LIFE IS DANGEROUS. LIVE IT ANYWAY. was finding a way to help financially support various nonprofit organizations and the founders of the company all agreed we wanted to form a partnership with a Veterans and military organization,” shared Tom Gibson, one of the partners for LIFE IS DANGEROUS. LIVE IT ANYWAY, “We are excited to help Folds of Honor provide scholarships and have committed to Lt. Col. Rooney a portion of the proceeds from LIFE IS DANGEROUS. LIVE IT ANYWAY. merchandise.” Gibson, who is also a US Army Veteran said, “There’s no greater feeling than knowing you’re making a difference in someone’s life. Collectively, all of our customers and the people who are supporting this movement are also helping to make a difference.”
